One word to describe how I felt at Char&Co last night.
Spoilt by the staff, the fresh seasonal produce, the wine list and the standard of food.
Char&Co has an ethos of quality which is ultimately clear, the place doesn't scream of it's Brazilianess with Samba dancers and bright coloured furnishing, contrary to that it's Brazilian origins are expressed humbly through food. The decor is sexy, dim, modern and very cool, just look at the sleek design and impressive lighting. What screams with colour in this place is the food.
Presenting a true Brazilian churrasco the dishes are brought before you as they are made in the kitchen, you are offered an array of various meats cooked in various ways with a variety of finger licking rubs. To accompany them there is coleslaw, corn bread, potato salad amongst many other dishes, and wine...oh the wine is a thing of beauty, the wine list here is true to the region much like the authenticity of the menu itself. Just ask the waiters they have plenty of knowledge and will point you in the right direction.
What impressed me is the integrity, the ingredients are seasonal and each dish cared for. If you are Paleo, low carb or just a lad this is a menu for you.
Last but not least, the staff and the owner is genuine, which in Sydney and especially in Double Bay, is lovely to see.
Oh, and please order the Churros and then dip them in the homemade yellow sauce. Thanks.
